25th – 30th August 2019
The time has come to head to Lightning Ridge. At the beginning of the year this Rescue seemed so far off and now here we are with just days to go.
The Farm Rescue team has grown by one since we saw you last. We now have Laura Carlton working with us. Laura has been an administrator with Rural Aid for the past year and decided she wanted to come to the dark side.! She will be joining us on this Rescue. We are looking forward to welcoming some new Farm Army members and re connecting with some of the Forbes crew from last year.
Arrival – On arrival at the race course please park in Kaolin Street. Some of you have had trouble finding this on google maps. It is right next to the Spider Brown Sports Oval. You will be allocated a spot on arrival. You are welcome to arrive on Saturday. Please see one of the Rural Aid staff before you drive in and park.
Power – For those of you that have requested power your site will be marked. You will need to have at least a 25 metre cord. PLEASE NOTE 10amp ONLY
Fires – We will have a fire pit near the eating area. Fires are not allowed on the Grassed Areas.
Generators – The use of Generators is to be from 8am to 6pm.
Caretaker – A caretaker lives on site right next to where we are camping. Please be advised that there are two guard dogs on the property.
Dog Owners – We know you will be mindful that not everyone has the same attachment to dogs that you may have, to this end we ask that you have control of your dogs behaviour at all times. All teams will be working on Farms at Lightning Ridge, Please be aware that it is possible that your dog will not be allowed on the farm. These are large farms with several working dogs.
Whilst on Farm Rescue we follow the NSW regulations regarding prohibited areas as follows:
- within 10 metres of a children’s play area
- within 10 metres of food preparation or consumption areas,
- school grounds
- child care centres
- wildlife protection areas.
Emergency – Please feel free to give either Grants or my mobile number to your next of kin as a backup in case they cannot reach you in case of emergency.
Don’t forget – to bring, your own cup, plate, bowl and cutlery. We will feed you three meals a day whilst you are with us, all except for one night when we eat out in the town.
Weather – Well what can one say? Yesterday the temperature got to 30 degrees, this morning was 2! Prepare for everything!.
Look forward to seeing you on the weekend
Julia & Grant ( oh yes and Laura!)
