Farm Rescue Job Assessor

Organisation Details

Buy a Bale is a successful fundraising program that works to support farmers throughout Australia w. With much of QLD and a large tract of NSW affected by one of the worst droughts in living memory the Buy a Bale program has provided much needed fodder to over 1200 farmers for animals in need.

In recent times we have expanded the program to include Farm Rescues. These rescues entail a group of tradespeople visiting remote and rural areas to help fix infrastructure that farmers do not have the skill, time or money to do themselves. Jobs range from painting and fencing through to electrical, plumbing, construction, mechanical and gardening.
Farm Rescues usually consist of 8-10 skilled volunteers working at 4-5 properties for up to a week.

Role Details

Buy a Bale is looking for a volunteer who is willing to act as a work assessor for our planned trips out west. This role would entail visiting each property listed and reviewing the jobs listed for that property. Key findings for each visit are to confirm what skills, materials and time is needed to do the jobs listed. This information is then used to identify which volunteer skills will be required for that trip.

The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has experience across a wide range of jobs which may include, building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical. Experience assessing work jobs and estimating the materials and length of jobs will also be highly regarded.
Candidates will be required to undergo police checks and undertake to get a working with children blue card.
